Thomson Brothers has completed a full refurbishment of a beautiful rural countryside property just outside London, seamlessly blending contemporary elegance with the home’s original charm. The result is a refined, sophisticated space that enhances both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

The kitchen transformation thoughtfully incorporates elements from the original design. The existing black honed granite worktops were given a fresh lease of life by re-polishing the surfaces and reshaping the squared corners of the main surface area into soft, rounded corners. These now sit harmoniously alongside dark blue, anti-fingerprint, matt finish bespoke cabinets, each fitted with sleek linear aluminium handles.
Above the hob work surface, bespoke fluted blue glass sliding doors introduce a striking design feature, offering both practicality and elegance. The kitchen has been upgraded with state-of-the-art features, including a wine fridge, plate warmer, and a sleek new hob. A large stainless steel sink and a half, along with an integrated refuse and recycling bin unit, enhance both functionality and style. Meanwhile, the original oven, dishwasher, microwave, and spacious standalone fridge freezer have been thoughtfully retained, seamlessly blending the old with the new.

The existing glass splash back, painted in Brinjal from Farrow and Ball—was carefully removed during renovation and reinstated. It now seamlessly enhancing the richness of the deep blue cabinetry, adding depth and warmth to the space. Its reintegration not only preserves a unique design element but also ties the entire kitchen aesthetic together with effortless elegance.
All of the home’s bathrooms, shower rooms and cloakrooms have been transformed with an emphasis on sleek, modern luxury. Large-format anthracite porcelain tiles create a sophisticated backdrop, while rainfall showers with expansive heads provide a spa-like experience. Two of the bathrooms now feature exquisite bespoke walnut wall-hung vanity cabinets, adding warmth and refinement. Another bathroom additionally benefits from a large, wall-hung bespoke mirrored cabinet, providing ample storage without compromising on style.

To ensure continuity in design, fumed oak flooring has been laid throughout the ground floor, enhancing the home’s warmth and natural charm. The oak stair treads were carefully refinished, preserving their beauty while refreshing their look. Throughout the spaces, walls were revitalised with French Grey from Little Greene, bringing a soft, timeless elegance to the living areas.

This refurbishment perfectly exemplifies the balance between retaining character and embracing contemporary luxury. Thomson Brothers have once again delivered an exceptional transformation, elevating this countryside retreat into a refined and inviting home.
