This recent refurbishment project sees the careful reimagining of a Barbican apartment, where bespoke craftsmanship and considered materials come together to create a calm, cohesive and contemporary home. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to enhance flow, maximise functionality and introduce subtle luxury throughout.

A defining feature of the property is the fumed oak flooring, which runs seamlessly across the flat, lending warmth and depth while establishing a strong visual continuity between rooms. To complement this, we installed new full-height doors, enhancing the sense of height and proportion while allowing natural light to travel effortlessly through the space. The bespoke teak veneered cupboard doors in the hallway further enrich the material palette, introducing texture and a timeless quality that sits beautifully within the Barbican setting. A dropped ceiling throughout the apartment, with integrated ceiling speakers provides discreet, high-quality audio entertainment while maintaining clean architectural lines.
In the bedrooms, bespoke joinery plays a central role. The master bedroom features a striking bespoke rosewood headboard and bedside tables, designed and manufactured to create a sophisticated focal point. Teak wardrobe doors with solid teak inset handles add refinement and perfectly balance practicality with elegant detailing.

The bespoke kitchen pairs veneered teak cabinetry with crisp white quartz worktops for a clean, contemporary finish. Integrated Miele appliances and streamlined detailing, such as under-cabinet lighting, keeps the look uncluttered, while the sliding reeded glass wall cabinets introduce subtle texture and reference the building’s mid-century character.

The adjoining compact yet highly efficient utility area, with perfectly designed bespoke cabinets planned to maximise storage, a hanging rail, and washer and dryer machines, ensures this space has optimal usability without compromising the overall aesthetic. By using the same materials as the main kitchen area, we have created a cohesive and highly functional area.

In the bathrooms, porcelain marble tiles introduce a sense of understated luxury, reflecting light and creating a serene, spa-like atmosphere. Instead of a traditional towel rail, we installed a warm wall with integrated rails. This provides a sleek, contemporary solution that enhances comfort while maintaining the streamlined look of the space.

The living room brings together good design, craftsmanship and modern technology in a beautifully balanced way. Bespoke curved shelving, complete with LED lighting, provides a sculptural display area, adding depth and atmosphere through its soft, integrated lighting. A bespoke rosewood media cabinet anchors the room, offering a generous storage area as well as echoing the rich timber tones seen elsewhere in the flat.
To take full advantage of the stunning view, a sapele wood bespoke floating breakfast bar creates the perfect spot for breakfast or evening drinks, showcasing the outlook while keeping the space feeling open and uncluttered.

This refurbishment embodies our commitment to blending high-quality materials and exceptional craftsmanship with bespoke design solutions. From the warmth of fumed oak underfoot to the refined rosewood and teak detailing and integrated modern comforts, every feature has been carefully curated to create a harmonious and inviting Barbican home. This is a space that feels both contemporary and timeless.
