It is with great excitement we announce that Luke Thomson, Thomson Brothers’ MD, has simplified furniture manufacturing by inventing a self-clamping, single component solution for furniture manufacturers. The Peanut system dispenses with the need to use cam and dowel fixings or the dreaded Allen key, to assemble flat-pack furniture. No screw is needed.
Thomson Brothers, have set-up a new company called Intelligent Fixings, to deal with demand for the new component. Following a thoroughly exciting and sometimes tense period of Research and Development; working with our own talented staff, as well as the amazing staff at both Biesse (one of the world’s largest suppliers of woodworking machinery suppliers) and EMST (long-standing, well-regarded UK tool makers) we can now reveal Luke’s incredible invention and bring it to the market.
The excitement around Luke’s invention has been growing since we took part in a soft-launch to industry insiders in July. The main launch of the Peanut 1 and Peanut 2 (a dowel version) will be at the trade show, WExhibition/Elements 2018 at the NEC, Birmingham from Sunday 30th September – Wednesday 3rd October 2018.
The furniture industry’s top magazine…. Furniture Journal, has chosen Luke to be their cover person for the current September issue! Inside the magazine is a comprehensive piece about his invention and our work with Biesse and EMST. To view online click here.
